Can polyester batting get wet?

So I found out through here that it's polyester batting that people use in their outdoor Christmas decor to give that "snowy" look to their lawns. But I was just thinking what happens to the material when it gets wet? We went to Home Depot last night and bought tons of X-mas decor and they were also selling the batting which we bought a few packages of. It's supposed to rain here this coming week so any help would be appreciated so we can figure out when to put this stuff up. Thanks in advance
