Stupid Teenagers: Disappearing without a trace?

Teenagers are selfish and think that everything should go around them. I'm not saying ALL teenagers, just a majority. If they don't get what they want, they'll go to extremes to get it. They think NOBODY understands them and it's not that nobody does, it's just that most people don't care about the petty things teenagers freak out about. When a parent says "You don't need to do this" it's because they've already been there and know what they're talking about. If they want a kid home at a specific time, it's not because they're being 'unfair', it's just they stay up worrying about them and worrying yourself sick is not fun. Whooping cough, asthma and mumps question?

Medical question for you guys in the know. Ok my husband Chris has asthma, recently he's had the most dreadful cough, so bad that at times I thought he would stop breathing, I'm not exaggerating. So he went to the doc and he had a coughing fit while she examined him which was lucky. She said it was whooping cough, now he was amazed because we get vaccinated against all that as kids. But she said because some parents are not vaccinating their children whooping cough has come back but the vaccinated ones aren't protected as the disease mutates over time! Strangely enough, there's been a spate of mumps in my kids' school, now I thought that some parents were being irresponsible and not having kids vaccinated, but not the case, it's the same as whooping cough apparently, those who don't vaccinate get it, but it mutates and the ones who have been vaccinated aren't protected as the disease has mutated. We know of 4 children and one teenager in our village who have been really ill. Has anyone else heard of this? Plus chris was told not to take his inhaler when he has a coughing fit as he would be overusing it and it would then be of little use. The fits although getting more infrequent are very frightening as he goes bright pink and struggles to breath and exhale to cough at the same time. Any tips from asthma sufferers? Any thoughts on the mutating mumps and whooping cough, I mean I may have misunderstood but if true is very worrying. Thank you.

So I found out through here that it's polyester batting that people use in their outdoor Christmas decor to give that "snowy" look to their lawns. 7 Month-Old Requires Far Too Much Of My Time, What Should I do?

I run a small day care operation in my home. I have a 7-Month old that is here 2.5 days per week. The baby cries whenever it is put down. I cannot put the baby in the exersaucer or bouncer set or high chair or on the floor to play with toys or the baby cries. I am having a hard time with this as it is really interfering with caring for the other children that I care for. The baby needs to be held constantly or crying and screaming happens. I cannot do very many activities with the children the days that the baby is here as I do not have my hands free to help them with their art activities or to do finger plays with them or anything else that requires me to have my hands free. I have tried a front carrier and the baby scream when placed in it! So I am looking for suggestions. What can I do about this to make my days go better with this child?

I have a poodle who has been hit by a car should I put him down or hope he gets better?

My dog was hit by a car on Wednesday. I took him the vet and they took xrays and told me what was wrong with him. Due to finances I am able to pay for numerous operations. My dog has a fractured pelvis, fractured back bone, hole in his skin, hernia, an organ has be submerged someone else and he has a cloudy lung. The vet said that due to his pelvis not been extreme he could be locked in the laundry for 6 weeks and only taken out to go to the toilet. He said that with rest that would improve. I purchased antibiotics and pain killers which I give him twice a day. The vet said he can live with a hernia. With antibiotics his lung infection should clear up. With the hole in his skin I have to clean once per day. With the organ somewhere else he is not too concerned and said that it usual in trauma in dogs and they could live a long life as he has had dogs come into his surgery and the owners didn't even know that that was the case. He appears to be drinking, eating and going to the toilet okay. He doesn't move around much and is resting. I feel that I should my dog the chance to recover in 6 weeks and hope for the best. I feel that if he has no improvement I will have to put him down because I would need numerous operations which would be beyond my reach. What do you think?

Make sure to use your first morning urine, although I got my positive at 4 weeks with pee from about 2pm. Make sure you read the test right too lol, even a faint line is a positive. If it's negative wait another week if AF is still a no show test again, if negative go to the docs and have them do a blood test. Good luck!

IT's always good to maintain somewhat of a relationship of where you grew up. It's perfectly fine to talk to them once in a while. But texting and emailing is not a good excuse to ignore friends in your big city. Keep a healthy balance, and slowly "wean" your old friend. Guinea pigs often like to be with other pigs, even if they have been raised alone for most of their lives. Unfortunately since he is not neutered putting him with another male may cause problems. I would consider getting him neutered and getting a female for him, or getting a spayed female or perhaps even a young male who will learn his place easily. Is it possible that he is too cold or too hot? Also, is he getting enough vitamin C? Guinea pigs cannot make their own vitamin C and lack of it is a common health problem in guinea pigs. If his food contains it then he should be fine, if not you may want to supplement him with citrus fruits or water soluable vitamins made specifically for guinea pigs. Also, he may just need some more time to get used to things, it has only been two days and he probably hasn't been outside that often. He also has a good sense of smell and even though there may not be predators closeby he might be able to smell things that make him nervous. Good luck with your guinea pig!

I've been having different problems with my computer but what works for me may work for your problem....when I turn the computer on, I hit F8....the screen comes up for the different ways to have safe mode but one of the options is Last saved settings (that actually worked) that's what I use and it will work fine for a while until I can find out what the problem is and get it fixed. The other option is to pray over it. I do all the time and sometimes the supernatural helps more than the physical.

I think there is some truth in this question. I won't say that all blacks are laid back, but the truth is much of the younger generation today seems to take the attitude of "what I can get" rather than "what can I give". Its a problem within the African American community and a lot of it is because the generation of today lacks the positive role models that were there in the past. Its not that all blacks are lazy, or lack the desire to do great things in life. However, its not encouraging when you see that many blacks are wasting their lives through , violence, lack of education, and they trade their lives in for becoming "famous" which most of the time won't happen. The point is, the parents are responsible for some of this plight. Before this generation came along, the parents raised their children on Christian like principles, along with moral values to be "something" in life. However today its not that way. I think its a problem and a lot of it comes from good role models along with trying to model themselves after what society has said instead of being something positive and doing something with their lives.

That is a good question-- I did the same with my children and they are also reading way ahead of the other students in their cl, my 8 year old third grader is reading at a 6 grade level and their thinking about skipping her ahead. I believe that whatever a child hear while in the womb they will remember for example there was this song that I would listen to all the time call The Battle is Not Your when I was pregnant and when my son was born every time he would hear that song he would stop what he was doing to listen. Although I previously thought nothing of it, I have realized that I am extremely sensitive to repetitive sounds. I use certain sounds to calm me (certain clocks ticking, using a stethoscope to listen to my heart beat, listening to one song play again and again for hours, the ocean's waves, rhythmic breathing, water running) and other sounds are infuriating to me (people wearing sweatpants bouncing their leg up and down creating a noise as the fabric rubs, chewing, slurping, snoring, dripping water from a leaky faucet, screeching from mechanical pencils as they are written with) while still other repetitive noises have little or no effect on me ( hammering, someone drumming their fingers or tapping a pen or pencil.) Is this normal? Is this related to any psychiatric disorders? Can anyone point me to some research on why certain sounds have certain effects on me? Will a baby snails shell regrow if it has cracked?

i have a baby aquatic snail (most likely a mystery snail) in my fish tank. It is about the size of an eraser on a pencil. I noticed it hadn't moved from the same spot for a day. When I took it out to check on it, i noticed a small piece of gravel was jammed deep inside of the shell opening. The snail is too small for tweezers and when I was attempting to remove the rock, the tip of the shell broke in half. I was able to remove the rock afterwards and the shell still covers the snail's body and now it is moving around the tank again. Will the part of the shell that broke off regrow as he gets bigger?

I'm busy reading a fascinating e-book entitled "God as part of the Brain". It explains how the world started from Big-Bang to how we were formed through completely "natural" and "unsupernatural" phenomena within 20 or so pages (I'm still reading the 3rd chapter). The question is, if God's purpose of creation was to create humans on Earth, what's the point of billions of years of evolution and creation and a universe so vast when we are only on planet Earth which is barely a small dot in the whole cosmos. Can't sleep because of anxiety?

Hi... So, I've been having trouble sleeping since the summer started, though it's gotten progressively worse... I can't sleep during the nighttime, I can usually only fall asleep around 6 or seven when it's light out.... I think it's mostly because every time I try to sleep my anxiety kicks in and I start worrying about absolutely everything for no reason, and usually it gets to the point where I have to turn the lights back on and read or something just to calm down. I've tried everything to start sleeping normal hours (about 11pm/12am to 10 am or so) but nothing seems to work; I even stayed up for about 30 hours straight so I could go to sleep at about 9, that was yesterday, and now i'm right back where I started. I also try breathing exercises and relaxation and whatnot all the time, and those never work. What do I do?

This is great, alot of powerful imagery, full of drama and emotion. one tiny comment though, i think the description of how he rescued her from the car crash should be more dramatic and frantic. like when you say"he took the seat belt off" its very dull for a rushed panicky moment, while you gave the falling rain drops a much stronger emphasis even though it is a more trivial event. "picked her up" "and ran from the car", i think you should really play these events up descriptively because this is the climax almost, where all the action happens, but the way you stated these things lacks the feeling of panic and pion which you want to express. I think this is a great short story, and you can clearly write well, so this is my small critique for you.

Both the nearly strapless bodice (which will need considerable boning to look right) and the choice of fabric (chiffon) mean that it's highly unlikely you'll be able to make this unless you're very, very determined and you've got a good teacher working with you the entire project. Come back in about 3 years after you've learned to sew and revisit the idea of making this dress.

ok so i have been thinking about doing cross country for a while now. now i really have to make my decision. i have never done cross country or track before. i also have not really been running that much over the summer. i have gone on the occasional run but nothing regular since i have been so busy with different camps, etc. i have been very active over the summer though and do something active everyday. although i havent been running everyday, i have done things like long bike rides (up to 50 miles without stopping with many hills and different types of terrain) and volleyball, things like that, so it isnt like i have just been sitting on my all summer. i dont know if these types of things help at all. i am also healthy and have a healthy weight. i am tall too if that helps. i can run 3 miles straight (that is the longest i have tried) but i didnt time myself and i dont know how fast i am compared to other people. do you think that i should try it or do you think that it isnt worth it? should i just not do it at all, should i just do it or should i go to the first practice and see how it is although i dont know if they are gonna let me run since i need to get a physical?? my friend who is going out for it thinks i can do it but she has never done it before either and i want some other peoples opinion.

So we narrowed it down to 31, 33, 35, 37, and 39. if the scabs/sores don't clear up or look better in a few days it couldn't hurt to bring them to the vets, you don't want their wounds getting infected. don't feed them cat food or raw meat. baby food is good for a treat, just make sure it has no onion powder in it (my vet told me thats no good for them), so instead of gerber try beechnut brand. i'm not familiar with the brand of food you are feeding them, but like the first person said, make sure it's high in protein. if you want to feed them meat, boil some chicken or turkey. raw meat could have parasites and you don't want your ferret getting infected.

Alright, so I'm having this problem with the speakers on my laptop: Whenever I try to play a disk that has audio on it (examples: PC games, CD's, DVD) the speakers make this crackling noise while playing it. It does not do this when I try to play audio files that are already on my computer like music, it only does it when I'm using a disk. Can anybody tell me why this is happening, or better yet a way to fix it?

Lump in near nipple?

Has anyone had a lump in the just under the nipple area? I had one a couple of years ago, but the specialist said it was just a hardening milk duct and would go away. It never went away, but got softer to the point where it was hardly noticeable. Now it's back. I just had a partial hysterectomy so I'm wondering if it's hormonal. Its the same lump, same spot, only bigger and more evenly round than before. I don't know if I should worry. I can't get in to see the doctor for another five weeks!

Should I get help or try to fix this?

I have a social anxiety disorder. It's been getting worse over the past 1 1/2 years. I've always been a bit nervous around people and a little shy. But lately, it has become a problem. I'm a college student and for the last 3 semesters, in lecture/discussion cles, whenever cl discussion begins, I become incredibly nervous. My stomach twists into knots. I begin to tremble slightly. My heart pounds. But I usually have so much to say. Sometimes I raise my hand anyway, but I found that when I do start speaking, my breath becomes tight and I talk too fast as to get it over with. Then I start doing everything possible to make it look as if I am NOT choking and sinking as I feel that I am inside. It becomes a battle to keep from having a panic attack before Im finished saying my piece- which is usually not as eloquent as I had planned. After that- which usually happens on the first day of cl- I usually refrain from ever answering a question again-afraid that I will actually have a panic attack next time. When I talk to people one on one even, for more than 3 minutes, I start to get nervous. This varies. Sometimes, Im fine talking. Other times, I start to focus on the way I appear to that person and I become very nervous. I suppose this is a social anxiety disorder. I just started a new semester in school and the same thing happened on the first day as usual. But this time, I want to continue to participate more every cl period instead of keeping my mouth shut in fear. That feels like surrender. I'm hoping that if I keep answering questions, giving my input and putting myself through that panic every cl period, I'll get over it eventually. But I know that it could also have an adverse effect and I might actually have a panic attack or have to stop and leave the room... Im not sure if I'm willing to risk that. But I don't want to be quiet. I have so much to say and I can be very articulate. I was on the speech team and the drama club in high school and I did very well. I don't know if I can take life being mute all of the time. Can you give me any suggestions at all to calm myself? From the moment I step into a clroom... or an event with lots of people... anywhere where I have to speak in front of large amounts of people (no matter if it is a formal speech or just me telling them my name, it happens. And then if I do attempt to speak, I feel as if Ill choke any moment. Any advice at all? Im hoping to fight this on my own. I don't have a job, nor money for a psychiatrist. I'm very scared for my future. I want to be successful and I know that will never happen unless I jump this hurdle. Thank you.
