What do you think of this preface - would it hook your attention?

I'd told myself it would be my last failure. The thought of success could only exist in my subconscious, buried where my ideas grew and flourished. I had watched them devastated as any of my attempts had wound up in vain. With surrender being the ultimate solution, I'd tried to find another way around. That's what had brought me here. After a quest of forty-two years, I was sure the end wasn't far off, only to know it had just started.
