Why do liberals demonize corporations/rich but at the same time want a consumer based trickle up economy?

The reason conservatives want people to keep the money that they earn is so they can save (banks can in turn make investments), invest and insure. Liberals want redistribution of wealth so people can go shop to stimulate the economy. Higher taxes will create a higher barrier to gaining wealth so less people will be able to move up the economic ladder. Meanwhile the ultra rich will always have their wink/nudge exemptions and tax shelters. Don't liberals see that they're playing right into the hands of the wealthy elites and are fueling mindless consumerism?
